It is the story of one writer's life. Near the end, an ex-lover tells him: "When I was young and very poor, I had enough money left to buy a sandwich. I bought a stick of violets instead. I never would have remembered the sandwich, but I remember the violets." Pretty much sums me up. It seems to me, it is the fans who navigate with heart. I can't speak for any other fan ofcourse, but I suspect it will not be the win/loss statistics, or time/money spent, when each of us looks back, but rather, it will be the love, or absence of, that is remembered.
