They've developed none and the 3 drafted under Savage look to continue the trend. By having to spend free agent dollars on linemen, that's less to spend elsewhere. If Savage can't see that the foundation of this team is its achilles heel, then he needs to go along with CrennelGary Benzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10578834252235902676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30300136.post-56798810963262773182007-02-20T10:14:00.000-05:002007-02-20T10:14:00.000-05:00The comparison between the Browns' line and the In...The comparison between the Browns' line and the Indians' bullpen is pretty spot-on.

However, I think the Browns are starting to get it. I think watching LeCharles Bentley get carted off the field followed by the ongoing catastrophe at the center spot finally kicked Savage in the head enough to make him realize that he needs to draft some linemen on the first day.

If April's draft comes and goes without at least one first-day selection of an O-lineman, Randy Lerner had better get in the market for a new GM because if Savage doesn't do it this year, he will never do it.

Shapiro, by contrast, might not totally understand yet that MacGyver tactics aren't the best method for building a bullpen. The bullpen's extraordinary recovery in 2005 might be leading him to believe that he can get a similar result from this year's pen. But the pieces for the '05 recovery were in place by the end of the '04 season.

What I know is that since taking over as GM in 2001, Shapiro's regime has managed to develop one bullpen prospect in Fernando Cabrera. One bullpen prospect in six years. That's pretty bad.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30300136.post-39457647187639792492007-02-20T01:02:00.000-05:002007-02-20T01:02:00.000-05:00God damn right! The draft comes and goes and... nothin.

It's (beyond) time to draft linemen. Bite the bullet; I know they aren't flashy picks, but it needs to be done.Benhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17210862608619471273noreply@blogger.com
